About the Workshops
As part of the effort to stimulate curatorial practice in South Africa, VANSA WESTERN CAPE is pleased to host curatorial workshops for young cultural producers. The workshop has been conceptualised, and will be facilitated by art historian Claudia Marion Stemberger.
The curatorial workshops have been designed for early to mid-career visual-arts professionals working in South Africa. The project is specifically aimed at those who are interested in investigating the theory and practice of critical curating. Discussions and presentations will be held to challenge and debate the nature of curating and consider the role of curators in South Africa and abroad. The participants will engage with various modes of curatorial practice and have the opportunity to present their own curatorial proposals for comment, while interacting with established professional curators from South Africa.
